Recipe with pictures: how to make Italian Starter, Italian traditional recipe icon

Italian Starter

salamiThe Italian starter is the traditional starter in Italy. More than a recipe is a set of recipes: it is  a choice of dried meats  as bresaola of Valtellina (see beef meat cut 18) a beef salami or carne salada  (see beef meat cut 19)  raw and cooked hams, various salamis, among them Culatello and Mortadella cannot be missed.

agliettiThe meats in the Italian starter are accompanied by preserved vegetables: the greatrussian salad classic are the Giardiniera, the Russian salad and the mushrooms canned in olive oil. We propose  also the "aglietti" typical from Piacenza , but common also throughout all the Emilia Romagna and courgette/zucchinis.

These are all products that you can buy ready made, but take a look to the recipes to prepare them: you will discover them easy and fast!

piadinaCold cuts and vegetables accompanied  to regional breads, or if you prefer to piadina from Romagna. Also in this case, you can try to make the recipe...

Here below is a link to a page with a wide description with pictures of the most common salamis used for making the Italian starter:
